Skateboard Speed World Record

Prada Linea Rossa and Red Bull support Diego Poncelet as he becomes the fastest skateboarder in history.

Prada Linea Rossa is teaming up with Red Bull athlete and two-time downhill world champion Diego Poncelet as he achieves a historic milestone becoming the fastest skateboarder ever recorded.

On a closed section of Route des Éboulements in the Charlevoix region of Québec, Canada, Poncelet reached a record-breaking speed of 151.83 km/h, surpassing the previous world record and setting a new benchmark for the sport. After years of preparation and waiting for the perfect combination of wind, temperature, and road conditions, the Spanish athlete broke the record by a small margin on his first day of testing, before returning five days later to complete the feat in a single decisive run on the same road.

The project was the result of years of research, training, and technical development, with the champion working alongside engineers and performance specialists to adjust aerodynamics, physical conditioning, and control at extreme speeds.

Every component of Poncelet’s equipment was engineered to maximize performance: Prada Linea Rossa collaborated closely with the athlete to develop bespoke footwear and gloves, combining high-performance materials with protection, comfort, and grip. The handcrafted shoes featured a sticky rubber compound combined with a herringbone traction design to optimize board contact and control, contributing to a meticulously refined system designed to push the speed limits on a skateboard.

This latest project marks another chapter in the ongoing partnership between Prada Linea Rossa and Red Bull, united by a shared commitment to supporting athletes who challenge conventions, expand the possibilities of human performance, and redefine the boundaries of their disciplines.

About Diego Poncelet

Born in Mexico City and raised between Spain and Switzerland, Diego Poncelet grew up drawn to speed. After exploring motorsport and freeride skiing, he found in downhill skateboarding a combination of racing, freedom and skate culture.

After breaking his leg skiing in 2016, Poncelet set himself the goal of becoming a world champion and began competing in 2017. His breakthrough came in 2022, when he won two rounds of the World Downhill Skateboarding Championship to claim his first world title. In 2023, he successfully defended the crown in Erzincan, Türkiye, becoming back-to-back world champion.

Always pushing boundaries, Poncelet has reached 131 km/h on a downhill skateboard, with the goal of breaking the standing world speed record of 146.73 km/h.
