25 Years of the Prada Broadway Epicenter
Located at the corner of Prince and Broadway in New York City, the first Prada Epicenter opened on December 15, 2001. Conceived with Rem Koolhaas and OMA as an experimental laboratory for retail and cultural engagement, the space marks its 25th anniversary with a wallpaper installation celebrating OMA/AMO project designs, featuring diagrams and imagery from the original 2001 collaboration.
The Epicenter originated from a 1999 research project commissioned by Prada to explore how the brand could rethink retail amid rapid global growth. This study evolved into the concept of Epicenters: spaces of concentrated creativity designed to coexist with Prada’s traditional boutiques, while embracing change, public interaction, and cultural programming as core elements of the brand’s evolving identity.

Defined by constant transformation, the Broadway Epicenter features a sixty-meter wall conceived for seasonal wallpapers, a sculptural zebrawood wave connecting street and lower levels, and flexible display and event elements. For the 25th anniversary, Prada presents a wallpaper installation celebrating OMA/AMO’s original project designs and reissues the 2001 publication. From February 12 to 14, apples wrapped in reproductions of OMA diagrams will be distributed at the Shack kiosk on Prince Street, reinforcing the Epicenter’s enduring dialogue with New York City.
